1.6 Rear Beam Conversion.

Recommended Posts

MrMemzi

Hi all. Basically I'm just after abit of advice. I hear I can change the rear beam for one off of a 1.9 to get disc's on the back. Is there any rear beam I can use which makes it a tad bit wider at the back also? Thanks

309 beams are wider and a direct fit. A search will reveal plenty of info.

Stick some 306 or Xsara arms on the back, better than using a 309 beam and cheaper as well I would guess due to 309 beams being quite thin on the ground

Yes, there is extra width in the stub axle / rear wheel bearings due to the abs on these cars but you also need the discs to suit because the 205 GTI 1.9 rear discs don't fit.

I love how everything is almost interchangeable. Saves alot of ££££. Would it affect the rear height at all?

You can set the ride height to whatever you desire, only thing it'll change is the handling, the car will feel less lively

Is that due to having a wider track? Thanks for all the info everyone!
