Beam Bearings

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for some bearings (and seals etc) for a Xsara beam rebuild, and probably a 205 one too.

I seem to recall that the Pug/Polish offerings have less needles than previously, and was wondering if these are still adequate? Or did anyone find a source of original bearings?

The 306 bearing/seal kits from Peugeot seem to have the correct outer bearings (but the poor inners, although they're not too important) or at least the last sets I bought did. Might be worth confirming with someone that's bought them more recently as to whether that is still the case.

I think the set kezzer got with his radius arm shafts from ebay / Poland had the correct outer bearings but the inner had fewer rollers.

Looking at the rebuild pictures in the topic here, you can see the outer are correct with more rollers.

I think we came to the concensus that even with the fewer rollers in them, as long as you plan a beam inspection inline with other big jobs such as a cambelt change & don't leave it 10 years then they should do the job fine.

In my experience of beam builds I have used aftermarket bearings plenty of times. I tend to steer away from aftermarket seals, bearings and shafts I haven't been able to fault. I currently have q+h bearings in my own beam with aftermarket shafts.
