Deep Dish Steering Wheel Or Not?

As the title says really. Ive heard it makes handling abit easier but ive never tried one. Can someone give me some first hand advice? Is it worth it?

Road/track. Barely use it. Mainly abit of B road fun and tracks.

 

I was planning on changing the steering wheel as the OE one needs re stitching.

I found that changing to a Momo non-dished wheel with the required adaptor and a quick release adaptor, which moved the wheel quite a bit nearer (so the same effect as a deep dish wheel) made for a far more comfortable driving position. But it is of course a matter of personal taste and your own physique. The downside is the stalks are no longer at your finger tips, but it honestly never bothered me.

So a non dished one but with a bigger boss would have the same required affect?

The boss by design moves the wheel closer, not a 'bigger boss' as such.

As said its all personal preference, the cars handling will not be altered though

Haha I understand that the cars handling wont be altered. Thats what the coilies are forrrrr. But im still uncertain as to what steering wheel setup to go for. Any links?

Without lowering the steering coloum the wheel will also be higher up, I'm my experience it was too high

Other than move the steering wheel nearer it does not really do anything to the steering. In theory you can exert more effort on the wheel....

It will be above the clock facia by about 2" and right in your line of vision with standard gti seats
