Playing With Van-Bus

Recommended Posts

sub205

Hello, today i was playing a bt with the van-bus of my Xsara Picasso. I got a dash from a Peugeot 307 and figured out the pin assignment, after connecting some wires the dash worked perfectly in my Xsara :-) Will mod the illumination and maybe develop a small van-interpreter to control the lighting dynamic like in my 205 dash with changing needle colors. But hey, that multiplex-stuff is not as horrible as everyone tells you, i like it! Have to figure out mounting-brackets and build a shell for the unit, also i need the multifunction display for my bc to work again. But first steps are done.

Nicely done.

Is it as simple as wiring it up and then adding the devices to the CAN-bus with something like PP2000 / Lexia 3, or is there more to it than that?

Its even easier. Just check the schematics and pin-numbers, build an appropriate adapter-loom and have fun! ;)

I'm sure it also helps with the odometer reading :D

In which way?

The odometer is stored in the bsi and the dash itself. The higher value gets priority, so never use a dash with a higher mileage than your car. ;)

Precisely

I have managed to get the dump out of the Eprom on certain models of cars which allowed me to transfer it over to the new dash, and therefore kept me within the law

... but you don't have dumps of factory new replacement-BSIs ?

That's what would be reeeeeally nice ;-)
