Torsion Bars Stuck In Arms...pushed & Pulled Out?

Recommended Posts

Alan_M

I've got the age old problem with TBs stuck in the trailing arms. Now, my question is can the TBs be pushed (I.e. pressed) through the splined hole as well as pulled through (like you do with Tom Fentons tool)?

Yes they can, and is what I normally do on my press for ones that are stuck.

I had this issue the other week, what i did was screw a M8 bolt in with two nuts on so it gave me clearence and then hit it very hard after heating the outside of the tb splined area.

I had the same problem a week or so ago, tried heating, making my own tool, bolts, sledge hammer, nothing worked. Got Toms Tool and within 10 mins both were off. I also use some heat and they came apart.

The force used to part the thing was amazing, I had a 20" wrench with a 4 foot scaffold pole, I really thought it would break before coming out, but it did move in the end.

Good luck
