Coolant Hoses Weak Link!

Hi people.

 

In some serious need of help. Had a leak for a week now dropping off the drivers side wishbone so traces it tonight and believe its this hose. All the rest are bbm and brand new.

 

What I need to know is can I buy these hoses already ready to go or if not.

 

Can someone with a wealth of knowledge tell me what diameter they are inside etc that way I can buy some samco hose and sort this weak link out. And now I can't measure it. Car is in daily use and I don't have the time at this moment in time especially if it went wrong.

Also would like to replace the one coming of the thermostat

 

Not a great pic I know but it's the black one on the left.

Any help would be great. I've spent in excess of 400 pounds on sorting my coolant and I'm rather fed up.

looks more like a leak from higher above, that hose is not known to fail, I would replace the clips though.

 

its part number 1341 A3, £8.60 odd from a dealer.

Thanks for the part number, well the hose is really not great and it's obviously leaking. As for above checked that all over and all is good welsh.

 

Ordered some silicone hose just now. And yeah clips are poo which could be the issue not sealing properly. Have new ones ready to go on.

Every time i've had a bad experience with bloody coolant leaks on my turbo engine like this hidden deep where fingers and tools cant reach past millions of bolt on parts to remove, after a few hours stripdown its usually turned out to be the metal pipes that have rotted from the inside out, especially where they stick out of the thermostat housing that the rubber pipes fit onto. Ive got a fair old few scrap turbo coolant manifolds with this problem and no way that i know of to rectify it and im on my last spare now so when that leaks im in trouble. Though its still available on servicebox.

Funny you should say that Slo. Just spoke with miles and he pointed out the metal hose could possibly be corroded from the inside and have pin holes however not usually seen on a 6 engine.

 

Always something not straight foward one car!

As soon as i saw your picture it reminded me of when i fitted my engine, it had been stood in the back of my garage 18 month at least and although its in a different place I noticed the pinholes before i fitted it so luckily was able to swap it before the job got a lot worse. Its caused by using water instead of antifreeze or proper coolant.

Probably that then mate. I've lost a lot of coolant when I had my previous leaks so just kept using water or a silly weak coolant mix so yup that's probably the issue.

 

It's off the road now till next year to get fixed up :)

The steel pipes are just pressed into the alloy housing. It would be a simple enough job for someone to machine out or extract the old damaged steel pipe then make and press in a new one.
