Be Box Id Needed (Its A Pull Clutch)

Recommended Posts

309jazzpanda

Evening all, so I have recently recieved as payment for some work a gti6 engine and gearbox with all loom etc etc.

Now the box that has come with it is not a 6 speed but a 5 speed with a pull clutch fitted to it, the final drive is a 16x65, any ideas I'm thinking possibly a vts box but not particularly well versed in these things. Really hoping to sell it all but would like to identify it all first.

Thanks,Andy

Could be anything, but its not a vts box with that fd, its 4.06, where vts had 4.42.

If you can get the id numbers etched onto the gearbox we could probably ID it.

The pic you have of the gearbox with the clutch cable bracket what clutch cable is that used for a push or pull type?

I have changed my gearbox from a gti6 to a 205 grd swapped the clutch fork over and the the gear selector arm which sits and clips on to the top of the gearbox theres also a clutch cable arm that sits on the front end of the gearbox which clips on by a spring clip

Is there another bracket I can use so I can retain my exsisting clutch cable as the one you have on your pic does not bolt on to my gearbox.

Cheers

That's a ZX 16v gearbox, so is indeed the same pull type arrangement as a gti6 or a xsara.

the arm and cross shaft/fork is different to the push type, you would need to change both for push type items to suit a BX 16v clutch, and remove the forward cable bracket.

i.e, you should have used the 205 gearbox parts in their entirety.

The codes can mean bugger all, The amount I have swapped into different casings over the years run into the 100's, BE3 TT is more like the 1.6 205 box or the 405 SRi box, pic of the bell housing will give it away

The clutch I have fitted is a 2 piece with the release bearing built in ie a gti6 clutch also the clutch cable fork at the front of the box the one with a spring clip is straight so can I fit the clutch bracket you have in your pic if so will it work the same as a gti6?

you need to check the casing, it might not have the lugs for that bracket.

So if I can get the bracket to fit regardless of having the lugs or not can I use the original clutch cable and will everything work like it did when I had a Gti6 box.Im thinking of modifing the bracket to make it fit but dont want to do all this if it is not going to work.

Cheers
