Cti Roll Cage, Anyone Done It? Is It Worth It?

Recommended Posts

Slo

Thinking about how much cash ive put into my pos skip it means absolutely nothing compared to losing my loved ones in a bad smash so thinking about cag'ing it up.

But is it worth doing? I can't find any pictures of one done.

1/2 cage for the rear or full cage, got to be able to get the kids in and out too is this impossible?

I have a Cti and a Gti, and looked into it. The best solution I found is to take it to a specialist to fabricate a one-off cage, anything is possible. I have a specialist in Croydon and possibly he is going to make a unique cage for my Gti which does not restrict back seat usage by picking up on the rear wheelarches ( reinforced ) and not the boot floor. It does not have to be MSA compliant just give me a sporting chance if I turn it over. He could make a cage for my Cti but I think it will spoil the look as much as anything. Maybe a rear cage will be OK, but i'd fancy a full one to control the scuttle shake!!

Unless you insist they wear crash helmets it might not be such a good idea.

Having a cage will give them more to bump their heads on should something go wrong

I've never had a problem insuring cages, they're just another item on the list of modifications.

The question of hitting your head on a rollcage often comes up. I have one in my mini, and the steel cage is what maybe 2" closer to my head than the steel B post? In fact no, it is several inches behind the B post so not as close. AND it has FiA spec foam padding over it, so If I was to hit my head on something close the rollcage would be my preferred option for sure. And if it does go **** up the roof won't crush my head so I am in the rollcage camp!
