Which Aux Drive Belt - Rallye Setup?

Recommended Posts

shalmaneser

HI All,

snapped my aux drive belt the other day, was a bit of a surprise... still got home no problems, lucky I bought a new battery recently! The setup is standard Rallye, so PS pump and alternator.

I was wondering if there was any difference between these two belts, ECP usefully doesn't give the lengths...

Dayco # 6PK1165

Cheers,

Adam.

The length is in the part number, 6PK means 6 ribs and the rest is the length in mm, 1165 and 1610 for those two.

That's good to know... however, I'm still not quite sure which one to go for, and given that there's 500mm in it then I'd best get it right!

I believe the longer belt is for the models equipped with Aircon.

I take it the snapped belt is laying on the road somewhere so you can't measure it? You can always run a bit of string or wire around the pulleys to find the correct length.

Actually it's caught around the PS pump but there's nothing readable on it either way! Interesting fact: When moving, it's impossible to tell whether the PS is working or not. When stopped, it becomes extremely obvious.

That would be super useful!!! Thanks a lot!

That was my assumption but I didn't think you could spec a Rallye with AC?

You need to read Calvin Storer's thread

I didn't say read it, I said measure it! :)

You don't need to be very precise, it's either a metre or a metre and a half which should be fairly obvious.

AC is loong belt, non-AC is short belt, it is not a "rallye" specific part.

Operative word here is 'caught' - it's gonna be a pain to get off and I'd like to get the replacement part first :P

Sweet, I'll go for the short one!

£3 premium so I don't have to spend £2.40 and a morning on s*itty buses seems pretty reasonable to me!!
