Shredded Dizzy O Ring.

I am just about to refit my 4th shredded O ring inbetween my distributor and camshaft.

 

I always put a bit of oil on the ring before sliding in and tightening up.

 

Why does it keep shredding?

sharp edge on the bore?

Never had a problem with this, are u using a genuine one?

As above clean the head a bit where it goes in and maybe try some silicone grease

Cheers for the replies people.

 

1st 2 were purchase from the Bay and stated 'original'.

 

Once I found out they were half the price and still avaliable from the main dealer last one was from there.

 

I now have another dealer purchased one and will refit in the morning.

 

I'll have a good look inside and have a good clean up.
