Power Steering In Phase 1 Gti ?

Is it possible to have power steering originaly fitted in phase 1 gti ? Or power steering was just an option in phase 2 cars ?

The 1990 limited edition Miami Blue and Sorrento Green 205s were phase 1.5 and had PAS as standard, I'm not sure when it was introduced though, I've certainly never seen a phase 1 (pre 1988) with PAS.

 

Edit: According to http://www.205gtidrivers.com/info/history.html PAS became available as an option across the range at the same time as the limited editions were announced (October 1989)

But to answer your question - yes, it is possible. I've put it on 1987 Ph1 1.6 but TBH - I don't particularly like it. Originally I had it fixed because I wanted to lower it and put it on 15 inch 1.9 Speedlines but in the process changed my mind and left it original factory 1.6, so PAS is now an intruder in my car...
