Gearbox Question

If I want to swap the gearbox in my gti6 205 from a 1.9 be3 to a 1.6 be3 what mods will have to be done? Clutch arm? Pedal? Shafts?

Love this comment by the way :-) thought you was going to say, you need to swap this arm for this type, the clutch for x or y, push pull this etc lol

nope, the only difference between a 1.9 BE3 and a 1.6 BE3 is the gear ratios.

 

you might as well bung a new set of seals and fresh oil in there.

Yeah I would do shame I've just spent £34 on genuine ones for my 1.9 box that I reckon is throwing the towel in!

Which clutch would I need? Am I right thinking its 1.9mi16 friction plate and gti6 pressure plate?

given there's already one fitted, if its not broke dont fix it.

 

 

Typically it'll be a BX 16v clutch (same as a 1.9 mi16)

 

 

mi16 and gti6 friction plates are identical in measurements.

The release bearing is rattling but barring that it's working fine might just swap the release bearing and inspect the plate see what wear it's got.

The ratios are all the same, Only the CWP is different

Not in practice here bar the very early BE3 box's, they all shared the same and I;ve taken enough of them apart. One of those things no reference I have found noted the change
