Crank Trigger Location...

im making up a new crank and sensor to attach on to my crank pulley as the way my fly wheel has been lightened is that the trigger teeth for the crank have been ground off which is very annoying.

 

what i really want to know is.....

 

what position is the key way on the crank pulley at, when the two tooth gap on the flywheel is passing the crank sensor

 

im having a lot of trouble wording this so if anyone understands and can explain in a better way please help!

 

im hoping that the two tooth gap is in the same position as the key on the crank pulley as this will make life easier for me but who knows

 

anyone with a spare bottom end lying about or an engine with the gear box off please help as this is the only thing holding me back and i really dont want to put the original flywheel back on!!

doesn't matter where it is as long as you programme it into the ecu correctly.

 

they keyway on the crank is inline with the big end journals, i.e will be top when engine is at TDC on 1 and 4.

 

tooth gap is at 117 degrees BTDC iirc.

If you were making a new one, you'd be better placing it closer to the maximum advance point. Say approx 50-60 degs BTDC, for a maximum of 40 deg BTDC. So much can happen between 117 and 40 deg.

I'm assuming you have an aftermarket ECU? The info I provided isn't applicable for a standard ECU.

The MM 1ap10 can be mapped, but I don't know if it can be modified easily to read a different crank trigger, no doubt it probably can, but people that do that kind of work are few and far between,

 

Your efforts would be far better spent fitting a standard flywheel, or a lightened TTV item.

You need to get a standalone ECu ideally if you are making your own trigger set up. The ECu software will have a reference to tdc. And will say where the ideal place is to mount the pick up.

I'd sell that flywheel to someone not using an ECu ;) will be much less hassle

The standard ECu will have a chipset witch I think Peugeot us usually 32-1 or something like that can't remember of the top of my head. I'm not sure if you can map in a knew teeth number

I have my crank trigger on the crankshaft pulley, I have 60-1 fly wheel ( I have Electromotive Tec GT- ECU)
