Removing Abs

Recommended Posts

Is this possible? If so how? The car in question is a 306 gti-6. What are the downsides?

downsides, you will keep going when you push the brake pedal too hard.

upsides, you lose the weight of an ABS pump.

very easy, just remove the pump, remove the abs warning system bulb, and make up new brake lines for the front of the car.

there is an inline connector in both rear brake lines low down on the bulkhead behind the gearbox, replace these with tee pieces off a non abs 306, and make up the front lines to suit.

Yeah thats the only downside i could think of :(.

How much do they weigh? Im more interested in gaining space under the bonnet to be honest.

The bulbs are removed by taking the clocks out i assume?

When you say inline connecter i assume you just mean a joiner? Im not exactly sure how its plumbed up as standard, but it only has 2 ports on the master cylinder in use.

non abs models use the same 2 port layout on RHD cars, with a tee piece instead of the plain inline fittings.

go to a scrappy and have a look, you'll soon see what I mean.

not sure how much weight, but really not that much, you'd be putting the gti6 into a 205 if weight mattered that much ;)

So you tee off to passenger front from the one and tee off to the drivers front from the other? All sounds faily simple! Ive got lipe benders and my sykes picavant flaring tool here so shudbt be to hard.

Ha yeah i would but 205 gti's seem to be making daft money since i bought my last one! :(. Plus the 306 i have has been a real cheap build to be honest, ive mamaged to sell lots of bits from the donor cars so im fairly happy with it :)
