On Going Idle Issue.

Recommended Posts

I have posted in regard to this before.

For the past 6 months or so when I start my car the revs slowley rise.

Tonight I have recorded a video of it in action.

At 8 seconds the revs are at 800-900 rmp. Excuse the noisey exhaust getting that sorted in the morning.

At 1 min 22 the revs rise to 1400 rpm.

At 3 mins 33 I got bored and went for a wander around the car.

At 3 mins 49 the revs rise to 1800 rpm and then by 4 mins 36 the revs reach their peak at 2000 rmp.

Over time I have had the vacuum advance refurbished, throtle body cleaned out, SAD cleaned out, cleaned up the idle screw, replaced the water tempreture guage and replaced the air pipe between the 90 deg pipe and oil filler pipe.

On some journeys I can turn the car off for a couple of minutes and on the resart every now and then the revs will drop straight back to 800 rmp. Other times, they may drop to 1500 rpm. Others it will not drop at all.

Any other ideas people.

Cheers.

Just flicking through various vids on youtube looking a idle issues.

Got onto Vacuum Advance testing.

When I took my VA off of the dizzy it just lifted out of the slot where the arm goes in, once I unscrewed the screws holding it on to the dizzy casing.

When I got the VA back I just poked the arm back into the slot and screwed the top of the VA back on to the dizzy case.

Looking at the videos has me thinking should the arm part of the VA be attached to something inside the dizzy.

I imagine the answer is yes and I feel a right tit asking.

Regards.

Glen.
