Citroën 2Cv Comeback.....

No.

Restorations aren’t ‘new’ cars by the strict legal definition, as new cars are only allowed to have one reconditioned part, but they’re as near to it as you’ll get.

My friend had a Diane in the early nineties. Yes it was probably the least desirable car out of all my friends, but you just could not help but smile in it.

I was thinking that very same thought when i read this! Who would fancy a nice stint down the m1 in a 2cv cabriolet with todays traffic going fast forward sod that lol

Suppose it would be ok as a garden ornament though to have high tea in it during the summer.

I thought this was interesting:

The 2CV Mehari Club Cassis makes its own parts, like this headlamp unit, and even its own 2CV tyres. All their chassis tooling was obtained from the Citroen factory when official 2CV production ceased. The chassis are made under licence from Citroen, whose engineers still make annual inspections of the MCC works.

If Citroen (and thus PSA) are prepared to support the 2CV to that extent we should be putting pressure on them to support the 205 in the same way.

Trouble is the tooling for the 205 is probably long gone given how long ago production stopped, though I do recall seeing the machinery for XU iron block engines being sold off about two years ago.

I was thinking the same thing, I don't know about everyone else but I find getting some parts for the 205 almost impossible, imagine how many cars wouldn't be broken for bits if there was a source of new parts being made :D

An interesting point I'd like to raise, how come the 205 production came to a halt so suddenly (comparatively speaking) unlike other cars where the tools are sold to other countries for manufacture by smaller subsidiaries, I may be a little bias but even by 1999 the 205 was still a hansom vehicle so surely it could have still been cost effective for India or something?

They probably tried to sell it to the Iranians, they bought the 405 and later the 206/7 but I guess the 205 didn't interest them for whatever reason.

That's the 206 with the 307 facelift front isn't it?

I drove through Iran and pretty much 80% of them drive a Peugeot 405 or a Peugeot Pars (which is somewhat of a facelifted 405, nearly a 406)

Isn't there also something like the Austin Cambridge that's in production still over there? With the MPG and reliability of the diesel you'd expect somebody to still make it....
