Corolla Advice (Non Start)

Hope some might be able to shed some light. My 89 corolla 1.6 twin cam carb has all of a sudden stopped starting. Absolutely fine before now, buzzed over quickly and fired up no problem. This evening nothing, but bump starts fine, turning on electrical items puts it under load almost stalls. Starter doesn't even click.

 

Simple case of battery? Fine one sec dead the next. Def did not leave anything on either.

 

Any advice appreciated.

first port of call for me would be battery or alternator. Its straight forward to test both. Do you have a voltmeter?

Not in my suitcase haha, my land lord may though. I'm familiar with testing the battery. Just odd how it suddenly went from starting fine to not even clicking solenoid.

Could it be as simple as a loose cable?

Loose cable sounds a winner really, best to volt check alt/battery anyway but check the leads are actually tight on the battery as well

My thoughts were a loose lead some were as when driving home after said breakdown the lights flickered now and again whilst going along (not whilst stationary). Checked the battery terminals and main earth in the car park before bumping it. Got a couple hours day light tomorrow so will investigate.
