Erm...what they are worth, hence my original question. Didn't someone on here report of a set selling for £250?

Slightly of topic , but how much do you think a gear knob (gti) with the green insert is worth ?

Thanks

what ever the idiot on ebay is willing to pay. The green insert is very uncommon, so I would assume £0-1000, somewhere in that price range.

If I was in the market for some, I'd pay a bit more for the rubber type mudflaps than the plastic ones that are on ebay

I would say £150-200 quid for a green gearknob on ebay? However this summer I did buy a green insert on here from Allye for 12 quid I think it was :D So the market is quite variable :P

Who are these clowns on ebay paying stupid money and why are they only interested in flaps and knobs?

I bought a spare set of 1.6 wheels with tyres for £90 from a local guy who had them on Gumtree a few months back. When i picked them up he threw in a set of mud flaps still in the bag and a new set of locking wheel bolts to "sweeten" the deal as I was trying to beat him down on the price :)

What is is the big deal with the rubber mud flaps actually?

I've never seen any

I've had a plastic set of original branded GTI mudflaps on on my GTI now for 15 years.

They still look great and work fine??

The rubber ones are good for an extra 20bhp. FACT.

Fellow plastic flap owner here. Had them on both my very first GTI and my current one. Personally think the rubber ones are ugly by comparisson.

The only benefit I can see is that the rubber flaps are more flexible. But personally I prefer flaps that are tighter and nicer to look at.

I have the plastic peugeot mudflaps fitted to my 406, I reversed over a sneaky verge/edging rock, and the mudflap snapped in half. I suspect the rubber ones are alot more forgiving. That said, I have the plastic ones fitted to my 205 and they are fine. (mainly because I am considerably more careful to avoid obstacles :D)

On GLP's theme, I have rubber and prefer them as you "can't" be too safe going by Craig's problems ;)
