Alloy Sunroof Blanks - Is There Any Demand For Them?

Hi all,

 

Would anyone be interested in a shaped, laser cut alloy roof blank? I know a few people have made and sold some, im toying with the idea of making up a batch that bolt into the existing sunroof mounting holes.

 

I intend on using my own car for the dummy run, but to get the price down (instead of buying one) i wondered if it was worth maybe having a batch of say 10 done?

 

The way my old laser cutting firm works is obviously the one offs are expensive owing to the setup charge, but if we can share that between 10 it might not be so bad.

 

I've not got a price as yet, just spitballing ideas really, but based on past experience i'd be surprised if they were any more than £30-35 each.

 

Is there a market for these do we think? Would 10 sell?

Would you look at doing some for dealer fit sunroof bolt spacing? I'd like to think the rails for those are preset fixing wise, but in case they weren't perhaps offer some un drilled?

Hi, I am currently building a fast road and track 205 which currently has a sunroof. I may be interested in such a panel. Any idea of the cost and when they would be ready?

I've got a panel that bolts into the standard holes. I guess that could be used as a template.

1. So folks, where are we at with these roof plates? I'm interested. Are they for sale yet and how much are they going for?

 

2. Does anyone out there have any experience/ photos of having done this conversion? It sounds more difficult than it first appears from what I'm hearing.

 

3. Also, does anyone know of where I can get a new or decent second hand non sunroof roof lining for the 205 GTI?
