How many people here remember to 're-sorn' a car after 12 months?

I thought that had changed recently, and once it was 'SORNed' it rolled until you decided to put it back on the road? Im happy to be corrected though..

I don't think it's happened yet as I still get reminders through the post.

Yep, obviously hasnt come into force yet.. Which is a shame.. must now look into when the 205s sorn finishes :D

"When SORN has been declared for a vehicle the registered keeper must ensure that it will not be used or kept on a public road until a new licence has been taken out. The declaration will be valid for 12 months unless the vehicle is re-licensed, sold, permanently exported or scrapped."

The whole sorn thing is just a big con anyway. What possible reason could be behind having to do it every 12 months other than to get money out of innocent forgetful people.

They write to you to remind you, you then go online, use the code on the sorn letter and it's easy Peasy.

It is indeed a stupid thing to have to re-sorn, but at least it's free.

I have to pay £25 a year to retain private plates, after paying £105 to put it on retention in the first place?

Surely once I have PAID 105 quid to retain it, I should be able to keep it on retention till I put it on a car or flog it?

I have three on retention and it's a dear do!
