Optimum Rear Beam Height For Track Setup

Recommended Posts

Rams_gti6

I've done a load of searches with no real luck so asking here.

What is the best height to lower the rear beam or is standard ok to use? I've got bilstein group n shocks and eibach 30mm springs up front with same shocks at rear thinking of swapping my fronts for some gaz ghas or golds depending on what mine sell for!

To put it simply, the lower you go the worse the suspension works on the beam and you quickly run out of damper travel. This makes lowering a bit of a trade off, you'll just have to set the rear to suit the front, not a lot else you can do really

Thanks, I thought as much I know 'slamming' the rear is a bad move so wanted to avoid touching it buty plans are to put coilovers on front so lowering to match is going to be the way forward just hope when I strip my beam it doesn't drop to pieces!

Coilovers does not mean having to lower the rear.

When you rebuild your beam, if you set the distance between the shock absorber mounts at 314mm, that should be enough to match up to your eibachs.

I want rid of the eibachs as the cars not my daily driver or even road car at all really I'm wanting some coilovers as they're more suitable to my usage.

Welshpug, surely if I lower the front to a suitable height for track driving the rear will need to match? Or is there another way to setup for track?

Even if fitting coilovers, you don't really want to go too low.

Ideally you'll need to fit suitable size torsion and arb at the rear to suit the spring poundage of the coilovers
