Citroen C4 Vts ~2005 Your Thoughts

Recommended Posts

calvinhorse

My girlfriend wants one, which I'm very happy about :D

Any experience with them? We are looking at the 2.0 16v vts but your thoughts on other trims is fine.

Any common faults?

Much the same running gear as the 307 iirc, I like the look of them and a rally saxo owner i service for has a Loeb special edition but the more common TU5JP4 engined variant, hasnt moaned to me about it at all

That's promising!

The 180bhp vts is obviously the 206 gti180 engine so a good lump?

Ill talk to Henry Yorke he loves his 307

I reckon you will get an awful lot for your money, I bought a 4 year old Xsara VTS in 2003 for £2250, it was new enough that nothing dropped off or went wrong, in 2 years all I had to do was brakes a cambelt and an exhaust box.

Things to look out for..

the coin trays on both side air vents and the center work as they are £98 each and are common

Rear springs snap right at the bottom

engines suffer from abuse lack of oil changes with correct oil and campbeltn failures near 90k

crack at bottom of windscreens are common from heavy handed mechanics tapping it with the end of the ratchet

abs not working!! Big one to look out for as the ecu is pointing towards the floor and the connections get wet

they are really solid cars never seen a rusty one

Make sure you here engine from cold and hot, they suffer majorly from tapping and missfires, from cheap coilpacks and the wrong plugs, and sticky valves

Make sure the glovebox catch isn't broken, most C4's have this because people force them closed and they cost £120 from a dealer. As above the engine loom/ecu/fusebox can suffer from water ingress which isn't fun either.

Yeah it's the 2.0 136bhp I'm guessing they aren't a XUD or similar? :D

Is the 1.6 hdi what is fitted to the 207s 307s and very late 206s? With the turbo at the front top of the engine?
