Cti Rear Seats

How do these differ from a normal Gti rear seats? My phase-2 Cti has Phase-1 Gti half leather seats, what would have needed to be done to make them fit? They look slightly "squished" , have they likely been cut beneath the surface? I only ask as I have just got another Gti and fancy swapping the interiors over.

The top corners don't stick out as far as a gti. Most people, when fitting gti seats to a CTI, would just put the gti covers on a CTI frame and fold over the extra material. This may explain why yours look squashed. CTI rear seats should still fit in a gti I imagine but there would be gaps where the seat is shorter.

The gti seat backs will fit on the hinge but not at the top because of the sticking out part at the top.

And its not just a case of swapping the cover either as the catch is in a different and lower place too.

What I did was on the gti seat undo the zips then pull out the frame and peel back the leather to expose the top catch.

Then where the sticking out corner bit is just cut it off flat so that the backrest is completely square-ish.

Then pull the leather back home and pop in the cti frame. Pull the leather taught where the catch is and cut a hole to poke it through. Do up the zips and tuck the flap into the back of the seat.

Note that the gti backrest sponge is a lot thicker than the cti sponge so fitting the gti leather over the cti sponge will be all loose and frankly look terrible.

Bit of a s*ite picture but the end result.
