Sir Ef Civic Vs 205 Gti Mi16/gti-6

I've had my 205 gti 1.6 for a while now, which I planned to mi-16 convert it with a 1.6 box and a basic fast road spec, coilovers big brakes etc.

but I just cant seem to find a good engine to get this project rolling

 

But something has caught my eye a b18c ef civic(boxy) which needs some bodywork ,

 

both are old school, but being a pug head for the past number of years I know that you sometimes you spend more time fixing/improving them than actually driving them, which has started to grow old on me

 

 

Has anyone experience of both driving and owning both?

I know nothing about that Civic in particular other than older Jap stuff loves to go proper rotten in a way that we are lucky our 205's do not, so if you go down that route check the thing thoroughly for rot.

fit B18 into 205, job done :D

 

or, if you are tired of "improving" the 205, just buy a standard one and leave it alone!

 

I did over 10k miles in my mildly modified 164k mile 205 last year, and spent sod all time having to fix it.

 

my only experience of the older Honda's is very much like Toms, of knowing people with very rotten ones, not a surprise you see very few still alive bar the VTI and TypeR or SiR variants.

As Tom said, they rot like a bastard. I had that shape Civic in 1.4 GL guise and the rear arches and sills were rotten, and that was 10 years ago. And that's fairly typical.

 

I'd still love an SiR if I could have a mint one, though. CRXs are great, but there's so few EF Civics about these days, let alone SiRs/VTs, that they have that little bit extra rarity kudos to my mind.

my mate had a b16 ef and gave in to the rot at the end , proper fast little car tho would eat modern type R's almost daily
