Difference Between Early And Late 1.9 Compensators?

Recommended Posts

base-1

I searched but couldn't find anything about this specifically -

There's two compensators listed for the 1.9 GTi, 486145 (pre- chassis number 1811241) and 486149 (post- chassis number 1811241).

The 486145 is NFP by Peugeot and apparently rated as " 3/15 "

The 486149 is still made by them it seems, and rated as " 2/20 "

I've got the ratings from aftermarket compensators, but have no real idea what it means. I assume it's something to do with pressure allowed through, flow rate, something along those lines. Does anybody know? It's potentially quite a difference in just rating terms, 0.2 is double 0.1 if that's how it works.

(I'm swapping my 1.6 to full 1.9 brake setup as it already had rear discs and I'm going GTi-6 at the front, so while I renew everything I figured I might as well try and suss out the difference and which would be more appropriate)

Why not just keep the single 1.6 line with compensator to the rear if that's what it's currently running? If it's been changed to the 1.9 x2 lines i know quite a few people don't run compensators with 6' brakes up front, although i've not done this personally, always ran the 1.6 line setup.
