Heavy Duty Crimping Tool?

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

I need something to properly crimp some pretty hefty terminals onto some 4guage cable. The terminals are Anderson connector type. Is there a die that I can use in a vice? Or is there a specific tool I could buy?

Cheers

The way to do without crimp is a punch and hammer if u have a c.e.f.or newy and eyre near you then rent the crimpers.

Cheers for that Tom, I might take you up on that if I don't find anything. Annoyingly, I've just driven past rotherham!

cheap pair of boltcutters and patience with a dremel results in a fairly decent tool for crimping battery and high current terminals!

Roon

I just dropped a set of these weighing 8 kilos onto my foot, resulting into a broken toe.

That's all I have to add.

When i stuck for the tool for crimping these in work, would bend the tabs over the cable, and then use a rectangular piece of metal about five mm to press them home in a vice. Bit of a bodge but it will be good and strong.
