I have a ecu where the rev limit has been increased to 7900, problem is it floods the car instantly you can't even start it. My question is would there be a way to test and repair the ecu or just have my normal ecu chipped . Car 1.9 8v ecu Bosch 0 280 000 359 year 1987

Was tuned and serviced by machtech

Jetronic ECU's can't be "chipped" as such, merely a diode removed to disable the rev limiter.

Little point in doing so either in my opinion/experience on a standard or lightly modified engine, as the power delivery of even a good 1.9 8v engine has tailed off before the standard ~6500 rpm limiter.

Given the common availability and low price of Jetronic ECU's, your easiest option in my opinion is just to replace if there's any doubt.

Check that the ECU temp sensor is plugged in and reading sensible values (around 2000 ohm at 20 degrees from memory) and that the AFM isn't stuck open - both will cause significant fueling issues!

It's the ecu 100% car runs drives fine on my other spare ecu that's never been played with pulls fairly well for a standard 8v. Thanks i will just bin it and keep it with the standard ecu
