Traders Policy - Ncb.. Back To A Standard Policy

Recommended Posts

Ant

Hi,

I have held a traders policy for the past 5 years... no claims / accidents

Prior to that i had 2 seperate policies for my GTi / CTi - both having 7 years NCB

So in total, ive had 12 years without accident / incident

Due to changing family circumstances, i dont get to work on cars as much and the traders policy isnt practicle.

That been said, i am really struggling to find any insurer who will take my trade policy no claims into consderation.

DNA ( broker ) have advised that they will get my trade insurer to supply a no claims cert, showing 5 years no claims, and an additional note that i had 7 years no cliams prior to commencing a trader polciy.

Unfortunetly, ive spoke to several companies today for a quote and none are willing to accept any NCB, apart from Direct line, who will take the last 5 years into consideration.

Can anybody recommend any companies which will take my claim free history into account.

Thanks

Is there really any benefit about worrying about 5/7/12yrs? Does anything more than 5 actually make any difference with DL? It doesn't with a lot of brokers, and it's only five years claim/conviction record that's asked about anyway.

TBH, I'm not at all surprised that NCB isn't easily portable between a trade policy and a normal private individual policy. Assuming the premium isn't a pee-take, I'd go with the DL policy for a year, then look around a bit harder with an undeniably private policy NCB in my hand.

No experiance of exactly this, but weirdly our company car no cliams letters are always accepted when people go to private insurance.
