My New Truck

Recommended Posts

Wes

well i have sorned and stored the 205 for the winter and maybe longer and decided its time to get something i've always wanted.

this is my new truck, its a ford f150 lightning 2003. 5.4 V8 supercharged, 380bhp, 450flb torque, 0-60 in 5.2sec, 2.1 tons. very rare sonic blue. totally standard.

was the fastest production truck in the world in 1999 until dodge released the srt10 with the viper engine in it.

its so much fun and its very very quick! the noise it makes on boost is insane. its pretty much a muscle/super car in a truck body.

It's not too bad on fuel, aslong as you lay off the boost. I rekon I'm getting 18mpg, goes down to 14-15 if driven hard.

The dog goes in the back, I just roll the cover upto the cab.

I like to be different and would rather have this over an Evo or m3 etc. plus I can haul crap in the back and tow anything.

My mate had a 450brake tuned one.

Used to run it up the pod and beat all sorts (he could drive though!).

He's got a wedding pic of him and his bride standing in the back whilst his mate was doing a burn out.

Well i've had it a couple of months now. it still makes me laugh when i drive it, it will spin the rear wheels at pretty much any speed in the wet. drifting around roundabouts is fun!

I have done about a thousand miles and getting an average of 14-15 mpg.

I have just had the spark plugs changed, not cheap when there is 8 plus 3 hours labour! but i didn't know when they were last done and they are prone to plug blow out so was best to get it done. Apart from that and feeding it with fuel all i have done is change the rear lexus style lights for standard red ones which look loads better, and fitted my private plate.

I am trying to resist modding it but i will probably get a bigger charger pulley which will give me 4 psi of extra boost and a induction kit. that should give me about 40-50 extra bhp. if thats not enough i will up the pulley to a 6 or 8, its so simple to get extra power from v8's. the standard block will run upto 500 bhp reliably.

Lights look loads better! Just go for the 8psi pulley, false economy going for the small one as you'll give in eventually. Plus you're a man aren't you.........? :P
