Better To Have Loved And Lost......

Recommended Posts

aldworth33

Was watching the Chevy add "my dad's car" on YouTube recently and it got me thinking about cars we've loved and lost and that were special to us for different ways. My 1st car was the only car I have ever really liked the rest were bought out of necessity or because they were a bargain but my 1st car I deliberately bought a 1.6 because I wanted faster 1st car than my mates and I paid for that insurance wise but I didn't care. It was a phase 1 mist green megane coupe that my mate had chav'd up so I got it cheapish. My mate recovered it to my work and I started work taking off the Lexus lights and lowering the back to match the front then after she was on the road I decided to strip it and try and make it as fast as possible.

Anyways long story short a few crashes and thousands of pounds later it was striped, k&n full stainless de cat system and loads more and I loved it.

My 205 STDT, it was 'written off' because of a broken headlight and indicator and then put back on the road, I then went onto sell it and have regretted it ever since.

I sold my first few cars and regretted it, 1380 Clubman, 1.6 205 gti, 309 gti :(

I've since kept every car I've owned to make sure it doesn't happen again!

B217 EBL is the only car I regret selling. It was a series 1 Citroen CX 25 GTi turbo with a base model boot lid and no spoiler or turbo badging.

E906 LLE

Scrapped in 2006 because of a rusty wing and blown head gasket.

Absolutely mint interior. Non sunroof And only around 80,000 miles.

If I'd have known what I know now it would have a new wing and gti6 under the bonnet.

Have thought of getting a private plate here in oz with the same rego number to put on the one i have now as kind of a tribute.

To a lesser extent, a mate and I had a mk1 fiesta to drive about his farm when we were about 15, we ended up rattle canning it and smashing it with cricket bats.

I miss my mint M reg phase 1 306 DTurbo, Bianca white sitting on S16 lazers, lent it to my sister and she got run off the road by a stolen car.

My first car was bloomin awesome, 1.5 diesel Citroen AX, it had the original radio, 5 gears, and that's it :D

309 Goodwood was fun but I do wish it had been a 3 door.

Ah my nile blue 306 that is currently languishing on my drive with no engine or brakes awaiting the scrapper. My first car - eight years and three engines of memories in that, i am really struggling to weigh her in. The only thing that i left original was the shell, but decided that if i was ever going to get a 205 i had to do it now.
