Whats The Lightest You Can Make A Fully Functioning Track 205 ?

Recommended Posts

kirkas4

Hello,

Dark nights coming in, i want to start getting in the shed soon & working on the beast.

So started thinking what is the lightest you can make a fully functioning track 205 ?

Any body know of any seriously light machines?

Cheers

Camerons track car was a pretty damn good example of how to shed some weight and be safe.

Low 700's is possible.

Even a full on stage rally car that has lots of tat in it comes in at high 800's. Not exactly heavy.

Colins old 205 was something like 690kg. Theres still massive potential to go lighter with a big budget but as we own french cars we are tighter than a gnats arse

Is this with a cage or without.?

with a comprehensive one, without, you'd probably be able to take it to 650.

well my rallye without a cage was 750kg with driver when cornerweighted. That was completely bare. Obviously the XU engine and BE gearbox is a heavier setup.

awesome cheers! 650 - 700 is my target then with a cage ( a light weight one )... got a 761kg track star.... but building another! any one tried or know any one who has put a honda civic type r engine in a 205 ? with a supercharger! ? easier way to get 300 bhp lightweight car in my eyes

K20 has been done indeed, as has H22.

Note the cage is only what's required by the regs, nothing more. That's how it should be done! :D

debatable, having a heavier more comprehensive cage stiffening the chassis enabling the suspension to work more efficiently would far outweigh the weight advantage, certainly in a floppy nova shell!

It actually does look pretty comprehensive to me:
