Hi All, And Which Engine?

Recommended Posts

DC2T

Hi all, im new on here but not new to 205's. About 8 or 9 years back now i had a '90 1.6 which i got for a song at around £1200 with about 80k on the clock, after a little while i found out about the XM 8vT engines so bought a mint XM with 71k on for 600 quid which was shoe horned in with the standard 1.6 gearbox aswell as a pace triple core chargecooler. After topping out at 119mph a gti6 box was sourced and installed aswell as an Omex 500 ECU and full rewire, around that time the brakes were upped to wilwood dynalites with 305mm floating disks on alloy bells and new wheels installed to suit. She was then treated to a new paint job in cherry red (the fastest colour) and a cage not long afterwards, the chargecooler was removed in favour of a large saab 9000 intercooler and boost was turned up to 12psi. Unfortunately not long after on its first ever trip to the strip 1 side of the ecu packed in and after a succession of faults the decision was made to sell her, which ive regretted ever since.

Here she is :

After she went i bought a 98 UKDM DC2 which has been nothing short of mechanically brilliant but was never going to be what my 205 was lol, which is why the decision was made to turbo her aswell. I will be getting a spare engine B18c4 bottom end with B18c6 type R head and coupling it with my CP forged pistons and rods, then installing it into the car which leaves my original engine free from destruction. This is also now becoming possible due to the fact im buying my first house with a garage (something that ive always wanted and has stopped me getting cars as i have no where to store them) so, as i now have somewhere to store another car im most certainly getting another 205, although this time ill do it better and go for a non sunroof model. My plan was always when i had the space to fit a GSXR 1100 engine in the back behind the seats and run a chain diff to the back wheels. Ive had the engine for a long time now and built it up with 81mm standard forged pistons from a hayabusa which lower compression to around 9.0:1 i was told and are much better suitied to forced induction, the rest of the engine is supposed to be bomb proof and a common choice for drag applications. I bought a set of yamaha throttle bodies for it and made myself some custom trumpets and intake runners which i think were around 10" long from bell mouth to head. As it is a standard carbed engine i had to make a custom trigger wheel aswell which turned out quite nice i thought aswell as a nice windowed cover to show it off. Later an MTC lockup clutch was bought which suits a cars application better and i made myself a custom chain drive plate diff from an old type R impreza rear diff i was given. I made a pretty terrible turbo manifold up but later decided not to use it as 1 it was terrible, and 2 if i was going to the length of trying to make everything else properly i shouldnt just rush the manifold, so i designed up an exact equal length one to be made by someone who can lol, i may still redesign it a bit to shorten it but as it stands it would work. Management wise it has a megasquirt to go on with EDIS 4 igniton. Should be good for 3-500 bhp im told and still only rocks in at 1216cc lol

So this is where the engine question comes into play, as i will have 2 engines surplus to requirements should i :

A. Install the B18C6 Type R engine either in the front or rear coupled with some more home made throttle bodies (My first thought is rear, but a harder build)

B. Install the GSXR Turbo Engine either in the front or the rear (My first thought is rear, but a harder build)

C. Just buy 2 205s and do both lol

Thanks in advance

James

type r engine... bike engines in cars are a no for me.. short stroke no torque so have to be thrashed to death to move and then subsequently give up earlier because of the weight of the car they are hauling.. also the gearboxes are no good for cars so you have to overcome that hurdle I doubt you want to be at the redline at 90mph in first gear!

The gearing is easy as you just alter the sprockets.

What exactly do you want to use the car for?

I'd personally go with the Honda engine in the front of a 205 on bodies or turbo'd.

Good effort with the bike bodies etc though, what do you do for a living?

^ As allan said, the gearing is adjusted by the sprockets you use.

Just general driving i think, i may take it to track but ive never really been that into it. Just something to have fun in really.

I think out of all ideas the honda in the front will be the easiest to achieve, id definately be up for turboing it at some point aswell. im gonna make myself a new set of bodies for it or may even use those i made for the gsxr and make a new flange to mount them to the head

Thanks i was pleased with them, im a mechanical engineer by trade. currently work as a CNC setter for BAE systems

good point! you'd think after working on a few bikes I would have remembered the sprocket and chain gearing scenario lol!

The B18 engine fits in nicely. You will need to trim the 205 subframe a little where the original lower mount goes to clear the diff. I'm just doing this at the moment. The bike engine sounds mental though and would be more unique!

Ah thats good, shouldnt be too much of a problem. Just with the house would hurry up so i can get in and see how much ive got left then look for a shell to use.

Are you the same batfink from peugeot-gti.net? Used to have a rallye if my memory serves
