Hdi Starter On An Xud

Hi all, I went the scrappie yesterday to get a starter for my 306dt but the only one I could get was off a 2.0l Hdi.

I have since found out it has more teeth in the new one, my question is will it still work or will it ruin the flywheel when I try to start it?

Same part number for most, the centre of the pinion. Is further from the flywheel if it has more teeth.

So it will mesh Ok? If so that's good because the starter solenoid is up the fritz on my original.

 

What effect will the more teeth have?

Just to update if anyone else is wondering. Fitted it and it works, seems to crank slightly slower but the engine starts OK :-)
