Front Brakes On Rear

Recommended Posts

stuart1298

Right I've decided to do a rear mounted engine, so will have front axle at the rear, anyone got any idea what brakes I could use on the rear. I'm not sure if I should go down hydraulic hand brake route or if rear calipers would fit on to the front hubs

You'll more than likely need better brakes on the rear for the extra rear weight. Some citreons have the handbrake on the front so they may be worth a look, although they'll be heavy and probably use the stupid mineral brake fluid.

Look at getting new seals fitted into some xantia or c5 calipers...

Hydro handbrake will not be road legal.

I was looking at mi16 4x4 calipers, I've got a set at work so gonna get a set of 205 fronts and line em up, may need a bit of bracketry made up but can't be the end of the world, use the same Size fronts and rear disks

never got the tape measure out, but I know the discs are good for pug hubs as that's what people use when fitting the 406 brembo on the lower radius mounting lugs of the 306/205, so calipers wont be miles off, might be able to check this weekend for certain as my sister has a C5.

kev is on the right lines though I think, though add the name lotus and stuff gets very expensive!

DERP, just remembered, the C5 uses DOT fluid, not mineral, so no need to stick new seals in them.

I've just ordered c5 front calipers and 205 calipers in to work for later today, I'll have a look when they get here
