Bike Engine In A Car: Chain Drive To Prop Drive?

Does anyone know whether there's a converter like a bevel gearbox to take a short chain transverse drive in to a longitudinal prop drive? Ive had a look on the net but they're all coming up with chain driven duff's, I don't fancy using a 8' long chain!

Engines going to be in the front and I want to retain the sequential box of the bike.

This could work but I was thinking the weight offset may affect it and space in the engine bay. I need to decide which engine I want first I suppose. What do people think of a v twin'd car? Something out of a rsv1000?

I have looked into this as i had a saxo that i was breaking a long time ago, and there is nothing in the way of readly avaiable parts. you will need to design and get it made up, i was thinking about starting off with the chain sprocket, using that as a template for someone to design a way to mount a prop knuckle onto it, however i never worked out if the bike gearbox would even handle all the extra stresses of the prob as its not designed to take power like that.

Yeah I know Bhp per litre is much higher but there only a small engine!

 

People seem to have this perception that dropping a bike engine in a car will make it incredible as it revs to 14,000 rpm or whatever but the figures don't really stack up

 

Take an R1 engine for example in a 205

 

180hp

85lbft

850kg

 

211bhp per tonne and 100lbft per tonne

 

A lightly fettled GTI 6 engine with a pair of cams

 

190hp

160lbft

850kg

 

223bhp per tonne and 188 lbft per tonne.

 

I'm not saying bike engines aren't a good engine but there crap in a hatch back, impractical and running gear is generally a

cobble together job.

 

Unless you turbo one or chuck one in the front and one in the back but then it isn't really a normal drivable car anymore

Twin bike engines are used in autograss racing a lot, two high revving fours are what you want, I have seen a couple of twin-vee-twin cars and although you'd think they'd be good due to more torque, in actual fact they were crap.
