At the moment I have a 87 phase 1 in good to average condition done 90k no history etc etc but after seeing a mi16 convertion I have decided I want one would it be advised to sell mine and just buy one done or ruin a phase 1 to do the convertion its more the cost of the convertion that puts me off what do you all think. Or what would you do more to the point

I've just taken 6 months to do a similar conversion, i've gone the turbo route and mine is or was a phase 1 CTI it's now all done and its nice and quick everything, been upgraded to phase 2 too but if I could go back I wouldn't do it again. It "was" worth it but a hell of a lot of work, time, money, stress, not having a car for 6 months while the tax test and a lot of the insurance ran out. It has however put value on it and is now more reliable and quieter but loves to waste petrol lol. You should really think about it and weigh up the cost and how long it will take you not to mention all the parts you will need to buy/replace/fabricate and also judge whether you are upto the job. I like getting dirty though and am right at home under my bonnet. Should imagine the 6 route will be a little easier as you wont have to mess around with inlet pipes.

1.6 or 1.9 Ph1? If a 1.6 I wouldn't worry too much about adding a 16v engine at the moment and as said it's easy to go back if needed down the line, but the Mi can fetch fair money if sold on. The problems with allot of Mi's is you'll end up spending more fixing a completed one than a new one due to all the short cut's people take and wiring which are the main issues with them, One reason why most fetch peanuts when sold on

Mines a 1.9 its fun and all but drives me nuts how it runs out of steam so quickly I'm more than Upto the job I only want to aim for around 150 bhp keep getting told not to bother both the 8v due to the cost and strain on the engine wouldn't no if that's true. Will add my 8v Is strong and surprises people when it pulls off

I also had the 1.9 (which was supposed to be 1.6) and it was the same very rapid and urgent and also annoying when it ran out of steam which is why when the cold weather killed it via frozen water pump and chewed up cambelt I did my conversion. I already had the wiring engine and most of the bolt on stuff. Not sure what you mean by the strain on 8v's its rock solid mine

nothing wrong with tuning the 8v, issue is getting 150bhp from it, Best getting shot of the old injection then it's easy

2.0 turbo is 150 ish bog standard allowing for wear and tear over the years and performance loss, wait scratch that, no weight to pull in a 205 who cares about bhp its mental fast lol someone on here selling a 406 turbo right now for 350

Dump the jetronic, get coilpack and tps management, rebuild the engine for more compression, add a cam, then if theres cash left add bodies.

Sod the 8 valve turbo anchor.

I wouldn't "waste" an original phase one personally I would keep it as Peugeot intended.
