Rear Brakes From Xsara

Recommended Posts

dynacord

hi,

just a quick question, i will be changing the rear arms (1.9 dfz with drums originally) to disc brakes from a xsara

also, the master cylinder will be replaced with a bigger one from a 406 (without abs)

since the braking system is the same as 1.6, any advice what to do with the compensator for the rear brakes or should I just remove it completely? front brakes are 266mm.

The standard 1.6 GTi type compensator will work fine with rear disk brakes, and I run (and prefer) that setup on my 205 16v.

I would leave the compensator in place with 266mm brakes on the front, as you're still liable to prematurely lock the rear wheels before the fronts otherwise.
