Fuel Gauge Problem On My Diesel 309

Recently I purchased a '87 309 with a diesel engine. He had a problem with the fuel gauge. Show correctly if the tank is more than half, once the level was down below, the arrow is not pointing.

I bought a new sensor Valeo, and installed dashboard from my 205 GTI. Now the sensor works with any amount of fuel in the tank, but it does not have a general indication of the amount of fuel. If it shows a 3/4, the tank may be only 10 liters.

How to solve this problem?

The fuel gauge sensors/senders are different between the Ph1 and Ph1.5/Ph2 line .. no matter being a 205 or 309 .

Fuel tanks , also different .

 

So , by fitting say an Ph1 fuel sensor/sender inside an Ph2 tank , or vice versa , it will give false reading on the instrument cluster gauge .

 

You have to have a matched pair - Ph1 fuel tank with Ph1 sensor/sender .

Damir, I used the sensor Valeo with the number 347355. According to my catalog, it is for my car - 309 Phase 1. The dashboard from 205 GTI 1.6 Phase 1. Both cars from 1987.

The fuel level is not just wrong, it floats. Today, it is 1/2, and tomorrow it 3/4 tank.
