Why I Love My Old Gti

Recommended Posts

tartanbloke

Afternoon,

I just wanted to express my thoughts on the reasons why I love my old GTI and to cut a long story short, after sitting under a cover for almost two years not being moved more than 10 feet and started once in a while I had to send her for an MOT.

Imagine my delight when the only reason for failure was the rear brake hoses and pipes were excessively corroded. I duly paid the garage the relatively small sum to replace these and now I have 12 months MOT and tax to enjoy her.

Although there are a couple of advisories, it is nothing major or expensive that I can sort over the next few months and again just reinforces my love affair with my 24 year old car, which is still great to drive, cheap to fix and outlasts most other models of vehicles from the same era (I can remember having mini's that were 12 years old failing for many reasons and having extensive rot).

I am getting excited about the thought of just driving her for fun now and have a great sense of pride in what I own. May it continue for many years.

They might not rot but anything plastic just cracks and falls to bits!
