Quest To Save An Endangered Model

Hi all,

 

I have a 205 GTX 5 door in Graphite Metallic, which I'm sad to say has to go! I'm moving house to a place with little space for extra cars. The car is fantastic, standard GTX spec, sliding sunroof, elec windows, Gti style front bumper valance with spots. Great velour comfy seats. I know it's not a Gti and therefore not very sought after but it's a great daily drive! The 1.4 TU3M single point injection engine is nippy as hell but also pretty efficient at an MPG of the high 30s.

 

Now I've had a GTX for about 15 years, not the same one as my first was written off! But due to this I have as spares almost an entire iterior (seats, cards, dash etc. ) a cylinder head and spare throttle body, and some 1.6 pepperpots.

 

What I want from you guys is a value, I'm going to list this in the for sale section but want to get an idea first. I was very disturbed to see there are only 27 of these left, only 20 on the road and really don't want to see another go, in light of this I really don't want it to go to a butcher or the scrappie, it's far too good!

That is stunning, i'm going to show my old dear the photo's. She's after something to replace her fiat coupe and has a history of 205's.

It really is! 115000 miles, very neat inside, this car hasn't been pulled apart like many so all the interior is really tidy, passed its MOT last time with no advisorys! To keep to the rules I'm going to pop it in the for sale section!

How much you looking for the 1.6 alloys? With or without tires?

 

Might be interested in the cylinder head too. I have a 205 GT on H reg (first of the mark 2's). Single point injection also. Pretty sure it's of the TU type. My head gasket hasn't gone but is "compromised" i think my valve stem seals have perished as well as it's burning oil, but still going

Tyres are on the alloys but perished, 3 are in good nick, one has some corrosion. I was going to get that one blasted and coated but as they are £70 collected! The head can go for £50 as it was skimmed and valves seated recently! I'll get pics for you tomorrow!

Bloody amazing car! In many ways better than a Gti, very quick for a 1.4, reliable tick over, smooth acceleration and good MPG. Really nice seats too! Really don't want to sell but needs must!

Yes that's the one! Loads of people watching but no takers yet, had a bloke call and text that seems to think its under priced as they're rare but I don't think he was actually interested in buying!

Just a bit of help on this. How would you guys go about selling this car. Ebay is a waste of time unless your selling a knacker cheap. Got loads of watchers but no buyers. Email to buy out of ebay and let down by someone on his way to buy it!!??

Where would you go to get a good price for a rare car!

The thing I have realised with mine is that despite being very rare it isn't desirable, it has the wrong badge on (x not i). Most people don't even know what an xs is despite it being better than a UK rallye it is always going to be the badge that pulls the money.

Gumtree is free to advertise though and has a lot of people that don't use ebay

I did put it in the for sale but no interest at all! As said, a rare and lovely car but not very desirable! I wanted £850 with 12 months mot and tax! (Both done at beginning of month) it's fully original and has full service history, radio keycode card, key code, original remote central locking that works! I thought it was a bargain at that! I had a guy call called Baz that reckoned I was under selling at that! I'm going to take some more pics as the inside ones u did we're pants!

When mine goes it will probably be about £450 but its no where near as nice as yours
