Bb5 Wheels? Quality And Fitment

Recommended Posts

jameswallace.

been looking at these on ebay...

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=121143659880

anybody have any experience with these? wondering about quality and about fitment? I think they should fit and give a little bit of poke but any other more educated guesses would be much appreciated

I know they will be ruddy heavy

as for fit, I'd personally I'd buy them without tyres, the austones will be utterly horrible and also too low a profile for a 205, and also too narrow if you go for the 8" rim.

regarding actual fit of the wheels http://www.willtheyfit.com/ is an awesomely handy bookmark

comparing the 6.5" wide Ouragan in an ET28 that I know will fit on the front of a 1.9 without spacing, I can see that the 8" ET15 rim will need a 10mm spacer, bringing them to ET5, giving an extra 40mm of poke over an ET19 1.9 wheel, no go with a standard arch I would say, given a chunky 195 will rub the plastics on standard wheels and 309 wishbones.

the 7" wide ET20 wheels will have 11.5mm extra poke than a 1.9 wheel, and less inset than the ouragan by a few mm, depending how chunky the inner lip is they might need a small spacer.

as for rear fit, I would say the 7"s will need a 5mm spacer at the least to clear the trailing arm, however I've never personally tried anything wider than 6.5" on a 205, I know the ET28 ouragan's went on a 309 fine with a 5mm spacer on the rear to stop the 205 section tyres rubbing the arb end plate.

Can't recall the offsets but I ran 7's at the front and rear with no issues a few years ago.

BTW, I love these rims, if you get them on a slammed 205 they will look the mutts :)

Fake splits... Bleaugh.

Aside from looking terrible.. there'll be heavy, prone to cracking and will need stretch tyres so you'd need to be slammed to look anywhere near decent.
