Oil Filter/cooler Thread

Recommended Posts

ApLeEuXgeot

I'm converting my 205 gti 1.6 to a 1.9.

The 1.9 engine is in the car but I have a slite problem with fitting a oil cooler. The 1.9 engine doesn't have a thread in the block to fit a filter or the bolt for the cooler.

The 1.6 has a thread fited to the engine but I have no idea how to get it out. I need help to get that thread out or does anyone know's where I can get a replacement thread for the 1.9 engine.

Pug or citroen dealer will sort you one.

However iirc the oil coolers bolt will thread into the block, so you dont need the short threaded bit.

The bolt iv got with the cooler doesn't screw into the block

It should screw onto the original oil filter stub thread which is available from Peugeot (or Citroen) part number 1103 54 @ £6.41.

You should be able to unscrew the thread from your other block but risk damaging it as you need to use something to grip the threads with.

this pic probably explains why the 1.9 hasn't anything in the block, though I can't remember how they all attach  I know the XU10 uses similar parts but arranged in the opposite way to this pic.

Ok that's great! At that price I might as well buy it from the dealer and save my self the mess about trying to get it out.

Although according to that picture it is part 6 that I'm missing. I'm guessing the oil cooler bolt could work either way.
