Recommended Posts

Looking at replacing the trusty old Zafira with one of these, are they worth a look?
Its an everyday family car with a view to towing my track car once in a while.

Ta for any help

Avoid the vauxhall 2.2 and go for saabs own 1.9.

The 2.2 goes and sounds like a tractor!

See what you think of servicing prices as I found most stuff expensive, stunning stunning cars tho!

the 2.2 DTI lumps had pump issues so not the best. The 1.9 16v diesels a nice lump. Same in Vauxhall / Alfa /Fiat's

In vauxhall world the 150 CDTI has the TI in red and all grey is the 8v 1.9 unit with only 120bhp. Think the Tid badge has similar coloring's based on engine

TID is the same CDTI engines but one will be 16v over a 8v, go for the 16v 150 lump :) 16v is good for 200bhp with just a map or tuning box and buckets of torque.

What else... um all suffer the fly wheel issues like any new car now DMF's come standard. If i drive mine like I stole it it still give 39-40 mpg. Keeping it around 80 gives 50 - 52 but I'm averaging 46 with mixed driving.

Parts can be expensive eg - Flywheel! (Check vauxhallworklparts.com) but I service mine myself, oil etc just the 10 / 30 fully synthetic and it should be 18k but I drop mine at 10k. I've done over 100k on the engine and apart from tyres the only big stuff has been the clutch and flywheel around 90k

Cant complain about the CDTI as my Renault broke every 4 months and needed everything big doing to it!!! Including a new 6 speed box.

Try a Astra SRI CDTI instead, 8.2 seconds 0-60 in the 150 diesel :) So a nippy oil burner with economy.

Egr issues are very common, though usually easy enough to fix, however if ignored can cause massive carbon buildup which is a big pita.

My wife has recently bought a 1.9 tid auto on a 56 plate with 63k. Two words "love it" it is very smooth to drive and quick, it was 26k new, and we paid 4.5k and condition wise I would give it 9.5 out of 10. Overall really sad Saab is no longer.

My two pence on these hell of a car tbf But if you can get one without a dpf do it as we `ve had loads of trouble with one of these in the end cut the internals out of it and had a software patch put on it .Quite a costly do .
