Super Quick Sanity Check - Driveshafts!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm running 306 gti6 front brakes so I MUST have 1.9 hubs, right?

You can't fit 1.6 driveshafts to 1.9 hubs can you?

I've just bought some driveshafts from GSF and while the gearbox end looks perfect the hub splines are too wide for the hubs - they've f***ed up again, haven't they?

Cheers,

Adam.

Can't you fit GTI6 callipers into base model hubs? Which would accept the 1600 shafts and not the 1900??

Hmmm, you can, how you've got me thinking! When I was sold them I was told they were 1.9 hubs and shafts.... and I'm sure I've have 1.9 bearings in them!

Anyone got dimensions for 1.9 and 1.6 driveshaft splines? Hub end?

It was a long time ago, I'm certain they were 1.9 hubs!

yup, you could have base model hubs which would need 1.6 shafts which are the smaller outer spline, but a BE inner end same as the 1.9.

what size was the nut you removed?

The nut from the current (knackered) driveshaft was 30mm. I've been looking on eBay and it does look like I've got 1.6 driveshafts! That's pretty annoying!

yep, looks like you are indeed on 1.6 shafts, 1.9's have a larger 24mm thread and 35mm nut.

Grrrrr, thanks for your help everyone!

At least the 1.6 shafts are cheaper from ECP, just hope they're OK quality!
