Dashboard Removal With Rollcage In Situ

Recommended Posts

YImkin

Hi all,

I've just bought a part track prepared 1.9 from a couple of members of this forum. I'm just starting a full restoration with a view to using it on sprints and hillclimbs (I already race an Anglia and a Cannon GT with the HSCC, but they aren't my cars and I want to do one myself).

I will start a build thread (promise!), but one quick question - the car already has a welded in OMP 6 point cage, but I'd like to extract the dashboard and get it flocked. There isn't much clearance to the front legs of the cage (the car is a phase 1.5, so there was no need to cut the dash to fit the cage).

To avoid the potential for excessive swearing and skinned knuckles trying to get it done only to find out it isn't possible, can anyone advise if this is or isn't possible?

Thanks

Chris

I've got an omp 6 point BOLT in cage and in the process of refitting the dash and I had to un bolt the front leg and remove it to get the dash in. The dash has two bolts that go through the bulkhead , this means you have two pull the dash out horizontally to remove it.

There's 4 studs on the dash which are about an inch long, so you need at least that much plus clearance to move the dash to get it around the front legs.

Useful info guys, thanks. I have about an inch of clearance, so given room for manoeuvre it doesn't sound likely, but I'll give it a shot!
