My friend and i are big into our Jap imports. He has 5 Nissan Pulsars. 1 is a road car, the 2nd is rally prepped, another a project and 2 more for spares. One of these spares is riddled with rust. Every body panel, underneath... it'll never pass an MOT again but has a nice forge built 320bhp+ engine.

Anyway, he's offered me the car cheap if i want it. Now... i know any engine will go into any car, however, a Pulsar engine would destroy the drive shafts (and more) with that power going through the front wheels. They are pretty mentel cars to say the least.

How feasable would it be to put the 4 wheel drive system from a Pulsar onto a 205? I can't see it working without being 4X4. I'm thinking there may be a problem as the pulsar is springs at the back and the pug is torsion bar? Any thoughts? is it possible or just a dream?

Perfect marriage though, Jap import meets Group B rally :)

Anything is possible.

Can you weld and fabricate?

As above, half an hour on drift works would show you how anything can be done.

I'll be honest - the usual assumption is if you can't see past the issues you probably can't overcome them.

It's a dream for those who know its beyond their capability.

If you are more than handy and will MAKE things work, then torsion bars being in the way won't end the dream.

Just be realistic in your abilities and those around you. If you have soft hands but a disposable income, that's another option.

If the pulsar is rotten and you can find a cheap pug shell, start chopping them up and get your tape measure out, you've got nothing to lose.

But hear this.. If you start a thread like this then start asking questions about "just putting a gti6 in instead" you're gonna look a right w*nker

Appreciate your thoughts. I'm pretty good with working on cars generally but engine and 4X4 conversions, along with welding and fabricating is way out of my skill set. Even if i could do it, i don't have the tools or facilities to actually do that kind of work. Unfortunately, a disposable income isn't available to me either.

I'm definitely going to look into this more though. Like i said, the engine swap isn't the issue here, it's putting the pulsars 4 wheel drive system on a 205.

"IF" i ever go ahead with it i'll be sure to add it to the projects forum.

To fit the engine in the car will require fabrication, machining etc so how isnt fitting the engine going to be an issue?

320+ bhp will not be an issue for the driveshafts if you made them (which you'd need to) properly. There's fwd Peugeots running around with much more power than that.

If you're 'good with working on cars' you'd perhaps be best trying to fit the running gear to a Nissan sunny, it may be a bit more of a nut and bolt job??

As above find your self a non rotten sunny base model or whatever and swap it onto that no fabrication needed .Allso if you could fit the engine use a 2wd drive box from a sunny .From what ive seen the pulsars have a crap drivetrain anyway and the 2wd seem to last abit longer when being launched etc so bang it in a pug with some custom shafts .
