Hello, new here :)

There are a number of things that need doing, I hope you can help point out some 'mistakes' or things that need sorting in the engine bay for me. Do not know much about these cars/engines.

Cheers

Jon

To be honest the conversion looks to be a bit rough and bodged in places, with bits that I certainly wouldn't be happy with on my own car.

  • Bare wires near the coilpacks where (presumably) the tacho adapter has been fitted
  • No air filter fitted
  • Fuel lines look like they are the original 306 lines with the 205 rubber hoses over the top of
  • Top radiator hose looks like the original 306 hose that's been cut and a random piece of pipe stuck in the middle
  • ECU box on its side and cable tied to the strut brace
  • No coilpack cover fitted
  • Carbon canister valve and pipework still present, despite there being nothing to plumb it into on a non-CAT 205.
  • Belt cover been hacked and gaffer taped over to give MC clearance

OK, atleast some of that is me being a bit picky and not liking things that aren't done "properly", but certainly the wiring and fuel pipes I wouldn't be at all happy with, and the lack of air filter is hardly condusive to long and happy engine life.

I've seen far worse though, and most of the items above wouldn't be difficult or costly to put right and do properly.

Thank you, I do mean that. I want to sort the car out. As mentioned on the other forum, it was cheap.

I must add that I cable tied the ECU, remove the air filter and exposed the coil packs while trying to get to know the car a bit more.

Could you advise what radiator pip I would need please?

Thanks.

Jon

well technically there is nothing wrong with your current pipe. You'll just find this forum isnt fond of people 'Bodging' things. To 'fix' you pipe (although not broken) you will need to do a search in google for Baker Bushes and Mount - then have a read through the website for a 306 - 205 Thermostat adapter, then you'll need to buy a top hose which will fit correctly.

Infact, the best thing that YOU should do is read several of the engine conversion threads on here to understand what the conversion entails.

And also bear in mind there is no "right" way to do this conversion, everyone does it differently!

True, although some ways are more right than others!
