Interior Fan Running Very Slowly

Recommended Posts

B1ack_Mi16

Hi

Going to get the 205 2.3 mot'ed, but the interior fan has started to act strange.

It runs very slowly at constant speed, does not respond to the slider that's supposed to regulate the speed.

It's a 1984 model so orginally the fan resistor is located in the engine bay behind the left side headlight.

I've moved it inside the cabin though, It looks like this.

Tried another fan without any other result also.

It is probably to be the resistor that is the problem, and will it be a easy job to convert it to the newer style resistors like these?

Any suggestions appreciated :)

The old workshop manual has the drawings, which may help.

Waste of time looking in the service and repair manual.

If you haven't a copy i can scan the page if needs be, but it will be at leat a day.

That resistor for your car is still sold if you want a direct replacement. I think its the correct part number anyway.

Thanks guys.

I did some more digging today and it turned out to be the metal in the adjustment slider that had corroded, so it sat on minimum speed all the time.

After a bit of scotchbriting on the slider adjuster it actually started to act normal again.

I guess that's what happends when the car is used only once a year.? :)

MikeC do you have the old 205 Haynes then? I think mine is Red of color, but I believe there is another book also?
