Strange Sound When Braking.

Recommended Posts

omri617

hi..

There is a strange sound when I push the brake , a sound like an old metal wire being stretched ! something I can't really explain ... mm like when you hold a wooden stick and try to break it , the stretching and squeaking sound it makes just before it breaks!!

Checked the brake oil level and it's ok

Thanks

Front , all 4 pads are good have enough 'meat'

It sounds like a rope when stretched !

How can i know if brake fluid needs to be replaced?

what is it...1.6/1.9? My bendix calipers make a creak like you mention...or as close to it as i can imagine. I think it's bent slides

Might be the return spring on the brake pedal creaking as it is stretched or the bulkhead where the servo is attached flexing.

There is a strengthening plate that can be fitted, usually to rally versions

tried to brake hard last night , and there is a severe turn right when braking , like the right wheel only brakes.

will have to take it to the garage....thanks

I had one pair of 1.6 front Bendix calipers , and on one side the piston sized up manifest similar braking issues.. in addition the caliper sliders had so much play that i cod hear them knocking when going over a bumps ! was a sound like worn ball joint .

So , 1.6 Bendix caliper are more prone to wear than 1.9 ones .. only benefit - they're lighter than 1.9 calipers .
