What Is My Hill Climb Car Worth?

Recommended Posts

jonb_5

Hi,

This is not a for sale thread as the car is not for sale, however I would like an idea of what I might get for it if I do have to sell.

It is a 1.6 GTi phase 1 shell, it has been totally stripped out for hill climbs and modified accordingly, there is no rust but will need a respray to make it look respectable, this is something I am in the middle of doing.

Specifications include, 13" Ford pepper-pots with custom spacers fitted with Avon slicks, Gaz front and rear coil-overs, including a Satchel modified turreted rear end.

Twin webber 40's fitted on engine which runs really well and has recently has plugs, leads, dizzy arm and cap and oil change, including dropping the sump cleaning and re fitting.

I have also rebuilt the steering rack and replaced the rack with Quaife quick rack and new track rod ends as well.

It has a custom made alloy fuel tank (roughly 8 litres) and expansion tank.

It has OMP roll cage, Luke harnesses and Cobra bucket seat.

It would most probably be sold with a trailer and straps etc so would be good starter kit for events or track-days.

Any help would be appreciated on pricing this, if I decide to sell it.

Thanks

Jon

As is always the case with cometition cars they are never going to be worth what you spend out on them thats why you see most folks breaking them for the parts.Without pics and details of the spec of the engine etc its impossible to tell what a value would be.

How have you done with the car?Is it a class leading car at events?

whilst that is true of your typical "trackday" car, a proper comp car will go for a fair price usually, though of course the market is somewhat smaller.

If it's a hillclimb car (or any competition car for that matter) then the most important factor is provenance.

What are it's best times and at which hills?

Thank you for the advice, although looks like I will probably be keeping it.

My best time at Wiscombe is 50.18 after my 5 attempts last year. This was on my old medium compound A048 tyres. I would hope to be quicker on the new wheels and tyres and with a bit more grunt after adding the webers as well as removing some more weight. By no means is this a class leading car.

The engine is a standard 1.6 with the additions listed above. I will get some pictures ASAP but it is sounding like it would not be worth very much anyway.

Thanks

Jon

Just purely out of interest would the adjustment to rear suspension mean that you compete in fully modified class?Curious.

yep, a turreted rear end would make a 205 ineligible for Roadgoing and put it in Mod prod
